Dear Reader,

For most of my life I’ve had this feeling in my heart that I’ve never been able to explain. The closest thing to describe it would be a deep desire to be apart of something bigger than myself and to change the world. As a child, I was told I could do anything if I put my mind to it, but that thought was soon replaced with the demands of growing up. It wasn’t until I was on a long road trip to California with a good friend that God reminded me of my heart and His desire to see my dreams come true. We were somewhere over the SiskiyouMountains when the Holy Spirit came upon our Honda Accord and He told me to dream again.

Here Am I Ministries is based on the call of the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 6 and the description of “true fasting” in Isaiah 58. When God asked “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?, it was a rhetorical question.  But, Isaiah felt the call on his life and responded, “Here am I, Send me!” He didn’t know exactly what it meant or what God would ask of him, but he did know that he loved his Lord and desired to be obedient to the call. In Isaiah 58 we learn a true fast for the Lord is to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free and to break every yoke. It is to feed the hungry, house the homeless and clothe the naked. That is the heart of Here Am I Ministries. Though many of us in the Body of Christ aren’t sure what God is asking of us specifically we can be assured that we are to be a true fast. And, as we seek out the purposes of God in our own lives we can serve our Father by serving others.

The goal of Here Am I is to teach the importance of serving to the Body of Christ. It is to train willing hearts to hear the voice of their Shepard and obey His call.  It is to open the door of ministry to people who may not know the means to find it themselves. It is to provide an avenue for people to serve and have fun doing it.

My heart is big while writing this letter. I am excited at what God is doing and expectant to see what He will do. How great our God is.

Thank you for spending time getting to know Here Am I Ministries. My hope is that if we haven’t met face to face, we will soon. And, if you’re a friend of Here Am I, I want to personally thank you for your support and love.

Sincerely,

Vanessa Brown
